July 2026 Secondary Water Restriction Notice
Dear Benchland Water District Customer,
Due to extremely low snowpack, ongoing drought conditions, and a significant reduction in the water allocation available to our District, mandatory water conservation measures are required for the remainder of the 2026 irrigation season.
Our goal is simple: make our available water supply last through September. To accomplish this, every customer must do their part to reduce water use.
What We Need From You:
Reduce water use by 20% (compared to previous years during the summer months)
Limit watering to no more than two days per week
A Watering Cycle is Defined As:
- 20 minutes per zone for fixed spray heads
- 40 minutes per zone for rotor heads
Water During Cooler Hours:
Water only between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to reduce evaporation and waste.
Why This Matters:
Benchland Water District has enough water to serve our community through the irrigation season if conservation targets are met. However, if customers exceed the conservation requirements, our available water supply will be depleted more quickly, increasing the risk of water shortages and an earlier shutdown of irrigation service.
The paragraph above does not deliver the message that I hoped to send:
- We have 3482 ac-ft of water allocated by Weber Basin for this season running from May to mid Sept. (not 4975)
- We have consumed 770 ac-ft from May 15 to June 31. The weekly amount of water consumed in this 6-week period is about 247/ac-ft.
- Our remaining quantity of water for July 1 to Sept 15 (10 week + period) is 2712 ac-ft for or 271 ac-ft per week.
- If we do not adhere to the watering cycle guide during the hottest time of year, the water allocation will be depleted and shut off BEFORE Sept 15.
Monitor Your Water Use
As of July 1st, 2026, approximately 75% of Benchland Water District customers have a secondary water meter installed on their system. If you have a meter installed, you may create an account to track your irrigation use in real time.
We strongly encourage customers to create an account through our online customer portal. This portal allows you to monitor usage and ensure you are meeting conservation goals.

Working Together:
These conservation measures are necessary to help our community make it through what is expected to be a hot, dry summer. By reducing water use now, we can maximize the likelihood of maintaining irrigation service through September.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to conserving our limited water resources.
